Children and UTI’s

Posted in Infection Killing Protocol, and Treating Children

I love it when I’m contacted by a mom about a child, because their infections are so easily wiped out, with so few complications. While nearly every adult has enough secondary infections, like Candida, to be forced to go through a period of detox before their bladder infection improves, the average child can take just 2-3 capsules of OLE per day, and be infection-free in a few days. After dealing with some cases where a woman has to work for as much as two weeks to get through all her Candida and wipe out a UTI, witnessing someone getting well so quickly is a pleasant change.

As a mom of 5, I know how stressful it is to want to treat your child naturally, but not know what size doses to give, or what brands to use, or how safe something is, but you can be really comfortable with olive leaf extract.
For children aged 2-6, 2 capsules (of Vitacost OLE) per day is sufficient to kill the majority of infections in 1-3 days. It can be used to stop a cold in its tracks in one day, or wipe out an established bacterial infection in 3-5 days.
For a bladder infection you want to administer 1 capsule with breakfast, and one before bed. The difficulty is getting it into them, because, like all the best medicine, OLE is bitter. You can open a capsule and mix it into elderberry syrup or honey. Don’t mix more than 1/4 of the capsule into a teaspoon of the carrier. The flavor will still be discernible, but my kids manage those proportions well. If you can only get 2 tsp at a time into them (half the capsule), wait a little and give them the other 2 tsp later. They don’t have to have the full capsule all at once, just make sure you get 2 capsule’s worth into them over the course of the day, one of those doses being at bedtime. You want the oleuropein working in the bladder all night.

For an older child, 7-12, your baseline is 3 capsules per day. Start out with that, and increase as needed according to what the test results indicate. Test the first morning’s urine every day.

Hopefully, you have a child who can swallow capsules with no problem (none of my kids can manage it, yet), but if not, mixing it into the syrup is fine.

Teenagers, 4-8-12 capsules per day, depending on the size of your adolescent and the severity of the infection. OLE is completely non-toxic, so start them out taking one per meal and one at bedtime, and see how the symptoms respond and what the tests show. You can increase as needed. If your child has had this infection for some time, and it’s resisted a course or two of antibiotics, what’s left is going to be tough. Hammer it with OLE and raw garlic if necessary.

For all children, continue full doses until a morning test has been clear for 3 days running.

For babies up to age 2, you can do what I did and steep the contents of an OLE capsule in 2 tsp coconut oil for 2 hours (in a warm but not hot place, like inside the oven with the light on). Using little plastic syringes like this, you fill 2 of them with the infused oil. For a baby 6 months to 1 yr, give 2 ml rectally at naptime and bedtime. Under 6 months, 1 ml. (Just insert the little tip and depress the plunger. Put them to bed immediately and it stays up there and is absorbed very quickly: a fever will begin decreasing in less than an hour)

Whatever they have going on with them, it’ll be much better when they wake up.
For children 1-2, 3 ml at naptime and bedtime is sufficient for most infections. You can keep the syringe/s in the fridge when you’re not using it, just put the syringe in hot water long enough to melt the oil when you’re ready to administer.

Disclaimer: I’m not a doctor. I’m a mom of 5 children ages 11-4, and none of them have had an ear infection in 8.5 years. (Or eye/sinus infections, because I do this as soon as something starts, and it never develops into a full-blown infection) I’ve done what I described for them during that time, except that sometime I used raw garlic steeped in the coconut oil when I didn’t have OLE on hand. The dosages suggested are what I’ve found in my personal experience to be efficacious for their ages.

Hello, I spoke with you via email a few months back. My daughter has another UTI (her 3rd in 6 months). She has already been on two rounds of antibiotics and they are now trying to pressure me to get some very intrusive tests done. Per your suggestion in our email, I am going to try the olive leaf extract, coconut oil, and garlic combo. I am going to have to do it rectally, as it is impossible to give my three-year-old anything orally (we have to practically choke her and she still manages to spit some out). My question is home much garlic should I use? I cannot get the olive leaf extract until tomorrow, so coconut oil/garlic combo will have to do for now. I also have cinnamon and ginger tea, which I am going to try as well (not sure if I can get that down). Would it be possible to mix the ginger/cinnamon into the garlic/coconut oil? Thank you in advance.

Hi, I know this website helped me when I had uti and a great deal of dysbiosis going on in my body. I am really happy to have found this advice and hope it helps others who are suffering.
Since using this website back about five years ago, I have learned much about dysbiosis and would not recommend this website be used as a first line for infection. There are much gentler ways of doing things. Diet is the very first thing to look at. The diet should be at least 50% vegetables with some fruit. Dairy is the number one Allergen to remove. I remember when my own daughter was having such bad issues and I did all the recommendations even to the extreme point but didn’t remove dairy. That was a very big, very stubborn mistake that prolonged my family’s suffering a great deal. All other Allergens should also be looked at but dairy is number one. Once back to health, goat and sheep’s cheeses may be okay. After diet then German medicine. Sanum products to be more specific. They can be challenging to get in some countries, including the US. I have ordered from paulsmarteurope.com with success in the past. Notatum also know as Pleo Not or Notakehl is considered the master remedy for infection. All of this information I have found in different forms throughout my journey to health, however, Dr. Thomas Rau has been my favorite resource. I always had this nagging feeling like trying to kill everything wasn’t the answer. Why do some people carry bad bugs unaffected while others become deathly ill? Dr Rau answered that question for me and it makes so much more sense. Changing the “bad bugs” back to their less aggressive form; nothing needs to die for the body to be in balance. Killing the bugs doesn’t get to the root cause of the infection.

My 8 year old daughter has been fighting chronic UTIs since she was 3 or 4. She’s been to a pediatric urologist and had testing done. Weve done antibiotics for years, and just found the dmannose powder and garlic trick last year, which seemed to help but they keep recurring. Her next step is to see an infectious disease specialist. She has a uti and was prescribed a third antibiotic.
I started her on OLE last week and began testing her urine. She’s up to 4 capsules a day. I’m not noticing improvement. I put her back on the dmannose simply because it does help, but I know it’s not good for her pH. I bought the charcoal but she is more constipated than running. Any ideas? Thank you and God bless you.

When OLE has no result, that means you’re dealing with intestinal Candida that has a biofilm, which typically forms after repeated antibiotic use. The best way to deal with this is to give her activated charcoal when her gut is as empty as possible. How old is she now: can she swallow capsules?

If you give her children’s milk of magnesia through the day so that her gut clears out in the evening, you can give her a dose of charcoal right before bed, then wake her and take her to the bathroom at 11 pm and repeat that charcoal dose (make sure she drinks the whole 8 oz of water each time!), and in the morning she can wake up and proceed with the day as normal, with no skipped meals. Give her 1 OLE per meal and see how her symptoms respond. If you removed all the Candida in the small intestines, she’ll have no die-off symptoms and her UTI will dramatically improve.

If you removed the biofilm but not all the Candida, she’ll have some die-off, in which case you’ll want to give her a dose of milk of magnesia to get that moving out of her system quickly. The faster it moves, the less it’s absorbed into your system, which is why people feel awesome while they have the runs, doing this.

I would repeat the milk of magnesia doses with charcoal at night for another day, and her bowels should start to normalize in their reaction to OLE’s Candida-killing: she’ll have loose bowels without any assistance, her UTI symptoms will vanish, and she’ll feel great.

Hey what’s good for maintenance in a child? My one year old loves tea and I thought maybe I could give her diluted ginger/cinnamon tea every so often to kill any bad guys and keep her healthy. Would this work or should I steep some ole in her tea as well? She’s never really been sick but when she was born (at home) she had pulmonary hypertension and spent 12 days in the NICU. While they did save her life they also routinely give antibiotics even though all her cultures were clean! (which gave me a massive headache)! Over her first winter this year she has had several minor colds and while she fights every thing pretty well I just can’t get past that set back at birth. I know something like that can have devastating effects and while it thankfully hasn’t, I’m not convinced that she was entirely unaffected by the mandatory antibiotics. I’d love to feel confident that her immune system is the best it could be.

Ginger tea would be great, with a little lemon and honey! It and cinnamon are great yeast-killers. You could give it to her once a day for 5 days while restricting all forms of sugar (except for a little bit of watermelon) to clear out any Candida overgrowth that might be present. Children don’t have a huge die-off reaction like adults: she’ll start having more frequent bm’s when it kicks in, if she has Candida, but she won’t feel horrible like we would.

OLE is very bitter: I have to hide the powder in spoonfuls of soft food (that doesn’t need to be chewed) to get it into my littles, when they need it. I’ve seen it wipe out a 101.9 degree fever in a 5 yr old within 90 minutes after one capsule in the morning. He was fine all afternoon, eating lunch and playing happily with his siblings, then it started to creep back and I dosed him again with one more capsule, and whatever that was never came back.

I would do the tea and try to get half a capsule a day of OLE into her, starting on the 3rd day of tea drinking.
Play it by ear and see how her bowels respond to know how long to do it. You may see very little response to ginger and OLE in those 5 days, in which case you can rest assured that she doesn’t have a Candida problem. If she does, though, just keep giving her the teas regularly, and a little OLE, until she no longer responds to them, then give her probiotics.

One of the best things for their immune systems is Carlson’s lemon flavored cod liver oil. It keeps them well, makes their cheeks pink, eyes bright, hair glossy, and even guards against sunburn! Mine actually like the flavor.
(I had 4 of them at home. 🙂

Oo for some reason I didn’t get notified of your response!
Thank you for this, I will have to try. I already make sure there is no sugar added to anything my daughter eats, so that part should be easy! And she loves tea so she shouldn’t have any problem drinking cinnamon or ginger either.
This OLE seems pretty amazing. I am going to have to keep some on hand especially during the cold seasons when we seem to pick up so much more germs.
That’s so true about the cod liver oil too. I give my little one the orange flavor and she really does like the taste!
It’s so wonderful to have a tool like this to do a gentle health check on a child. I truly believe candida overgrowth is at the root of many health problems so being able to keep it in check is so valuable. Thanks again for sharing! God bless!

      No problem!

Okay, for her..OLE is super bitter, so to kill her Candida I would start out with a little cinnamon, instead. Cinnamon is a great yeast killer, and it tastes good. I would get 1/4 tsp into her once a day (or start with 1/8 tsp twice a day) and see how her bowels respond.
When they’re thoroughly loose, you can mix activated charcoal into water in one of those closed cups with the built-in straw, so she can’t tell she’s drinking black water. 1/4 tsp once a day, 2-3 days running will completely clear the Candida out of her gut. Give it to her first thing in the morning and have her wait two hours to eat.
(And don’t give her more than 1/4 tsp of cinnamon per day, unless you’re steeping it in hot water and then pouring the infused water off the grounds before giving it to her.)

She has tunes and they are draining like crazy and stinky so I know there is an infection. I haven’t started her on antibiotics for this infection I wanted to try this naturally do you think you could write me a step by step so I get it right haha I’m so sorry I keep bugging you!!

I would go ahead and make cinnamon tea, as the fastest way to get enough cinnamon into her. 4 tsp cinnamon stirred into 24 oz steaming hot water, let it steep for 20-25 minutes, and pour 6 oz into a cup, leaving the grounds behind. Give her 6 oz 3x a day, and that will kill Candida quickly. She’ll get loose bowels, and her pain will decrease. That’s something you can start right now, until you can get OLE into her. The problem with getting OLE into her is it’s very bitter..can you get some elderberry syrup? You can open the OLE capsule and put some of it into a spoonful of elderberry syrup, and make sure she gets 3 capsules worth a day.

Okay, don’t take more than 3 charcoal in between, then, since your system is slowing down too much.

I’m sorry that none of this is an exact science. :/
Everyone is different, and the dosages on these things vary according to how individuals respond to them. You take the general guidelines and play it by ear, trying a little to test your body’s response and the infection’s response, and tweak it accordingly. Some people can take big doses of charcoal and keep chugging along, and some people get constipated taking ONE capsule, and can only take it if they completely clear their system out, first.
And there’s no way to really know ahead of time: you just have to go for it.

That’s Candida dying..the toxins it releases on a daily basis can cause anxiety, as well as depression and a host of other crap we don’t need in our lives, and when you kill a bunch of Candida all at once, the toxin dump temporarily exacerbates all those symptoms.

So basically, that’s the dead Candida talking. It wants you to stop. Do NOT stop.
You’re doing great: you’re kicking it like a boss, and you’re going to beat this and take your life back. You’re taking a flamethrower to the crud that’s been poisoning your system, and you’re going to burn it down, bag its ashes, and never look back.

Yes, it’s downright creepy to realize how much of your daily life has been influenced by fungal poisoning.

When you can take large doses of OLE and have no die-off, you’ve killed off the Candida in your small intestines. Most Candida-killers never make it into your large intestines, because they’re absorbed into your bloodstream before then..except charcoal. That kills Candida the whole way through, which is why it’s such an important part of a full cure.
So, keep hammering your UTI, which is killing Candida at the same time, and when you get your gut fully clear and take plenty of charcoal, that will speed this up exponentially, both the die-off and the UTI-killing.
I think that a couple of large doses of charcoal on an empty gut should take care of most of the Candida left in there, but there’s no way for me to tell, really.
I *can* tell you that it will wipe out your die-off symptoms!
