Troubleshooting: Little to No Response to OLE

Posted in Infection Killing Protocol, Troubleshooting, and Useful Tips

If you’ve been taking OLE for a few days, and you are either barely having any die-off symptoms or none at all, and your UTI continues unabated, don’t despair. There are two possibilities:

  1. Your OLE is no good. (If you’re on Vitacost capsules, it’s not this one)
  2. Your intestinal Candida has a protective biofilm.

The first is the most likely, and you should study your OLE label to make sure you don’t have a dud. If you realize that your OLE has 6 or 9 or 12% oleuropein per capsule, that means you need to pop those pills like they’re candy. You may be taking 250 mg capsules with 6% oleuropein, in which case you’re getting 15 mg of oleuropein per capsule, when the dosage recommendations I’ve laid out are based on getting 90 mg of oleuropein per capsule. Increase your doses accordingly, and order the good stuff!

If you’re taking Vitacost or Swanson Super Strength OLE, and you have no real response other than a little gurgling in the abdomen, your Candida has a biofilm. Forget biofilm enzymes, don’t even go there. There’s a simple quick fix for this that doesn’t require a fancy supplement (which is almost completely ineffective anyway, in my experience).

In the case of Candida biofilm, you need to get yourself a strong natural laxative and completely clear your system out. Do it so that you wake up in the morning with a clean slate, as it were. You can now take the charcoal you’ve been waiting to use: if they’re around 280 mg, take 10. If they’re 500 mg, take 5. Drink 16 oz water with them, and another 8 oz an hour later.

I know that sounds like a lot of charcoal capsules, but it’s actually just half a tsp of charcoal. When you send activated charcoal through your system when it’s empty, the only thing charcoal can draw to itself is Candida, and charcoal doesn’t give a flying monkey’s rear if that Candida has a biofilm. It sucks it up biofilm and all, like a black hole of pure Awesome.

Take that charcoal first thing in the morning and don’t eat or drink anything but plain water for the next two hours. After that, eat normally for the rest of the day and take your supplements.
If you have a tendency to constipation, you should repeat the laxative dose later so that you have a clean slate again in the morning, but if constipation is not a problem, just repeat that cycle where you take charcoal first thing in the morning, when your gut is as empty as possible. Take everything else as usual, the rest of the day.
Repeat that routine every day until your UTI is dead: you should begin to feel dramatically different in 2-3 days, as Candida is swept out of your gut and the OLE/garlic/cayenne move into your bloodstream and land on that UTI like a ton of brick.

Or a boulder. That works, too.

    Hello

I am currently dealing with ic. Atleast that’s what it’s come down to. I have a history of utis. I am now taking elmiron on day 6 and I’m feeling better so I don’t know if it’s my very strict diet and supplements or the elmiron. But I do feel what I’m going through stems from candida. I am just a little worried about the medications they have me on and how to incorporate activated charcoal. Also I bout the packaged powder and not sure on dosage as capsules are mentioned in the post. So just needing a bit of guidance.

    Thanks so much

  4. hello ive been taking d-mannose supplemements for about 2 weeks for a reoccurring uti. ive been to the doctors several times before, have taken so many antibiotics and have found that the d mannose does help treat a few symptoms, but im still feeling cramping and burning. should I focus on eliminating the biofilm or should I try and treat the uti symptoms again?
    thank you for your help

    Hello Everyone!

I’ve done Immediate Pain Relief, Phase I, and Phase II for at least 10 days now. I have had very little in the way of die-off symptoms even though I’m up to 4 OLE capsules and 2 Cayenne capsules 4 times a day ~~ plus 10 charcoal tablets 3 times a day. My OLE is Vitacost. I take 2 Mag Citrate tablets each evening (400mg) and then 2 again in the early morning. I clear out sometimes but then I get constipated by the afternoon. My leukocytes are still bright purple anytime I test, so I figure that I must have one helluva biofilm!

I want to try the directions on this page, but I don’t know if I understand this part: “Take that charcoal first thing in the morning and don’t eat or drink anything but plain water for the next two hours. After that, eat normally for the rest of the day and take your supplements.” Does that mean going back to the directions on Phase II and taking charcoal in the middle of each 4-hour cycle? Or is the charcoal only supposed to be done in the morning, and then just food and supplements for the rest of the day without the charcoal?

I have emailed Rebekah on January 3rd and have gotten no response, so I’m hoping that this will be seen by someone who can help me.

    Thank you!

      Hi Jacquelynne,
I’m not sure if you are doing this but you should use the charcoal after you start having loose stools, not before, at least that’s how I understood the information. Try maybe removing the charcoal for now until your stools run loose. Charcoal may make you feel constipated as it is used as an ‘antidote’ to diahrea.

        Hi Jane,

Thank you so much for answering. I started the charcoal last Thursday (Jan. 12) after starting the OLE on Monday (Jan. 9) and then adding Cayenne capsules on Tuesday the 10th. (I discovered that I couldn’t tolerate powdered Cayenne even when mixed with honey and yogurt.)

On Jan. 3rd I started the Immediate UTI treatment after finding this website, then did the Phase I until my OLE arrived, then did Phase II for 3 days afterward, and then I added the charcoal. Today (Jan. 15) is day 4 with the charcoal, so I’ve been working on this for nearly 2 weeks!

For 11 years I’ve taken Magnesium Citrate tablets to keep my heartbeat steady after an A-Fib episode ~~ 400 mg a day ~~ so since I started the charcoal I’ve doubled up on the Magnesium Citrate ~~ 400 mg twice at night ~~ once after dinner and then another 400 mg a few hours later. And yet I’m still not loose until the middle of the morning, then I go like crazy for a few hours, and then it stops.

I’ve continued daily with the Phase II “4-hour window” protocol ~~ garlic, 4 ELO, and 2 Cayenne capsules with breakfast, then charcoal 2 hours later, then the same supplements and garlic 2 hours later with lunch, then charcoal 2 hours later, then dinner more than 2 hours later with the supplements + garlic, then charcoal 2 hours later, and then the supplements later (which is often about 3 a.m.)

Yesterday after looking at this Troubleshooting page (Little to No Response to OLE) I thought that perhaps I should try the charcoal and water first as suggested here instead of starting with breakfast and supplements first like I’ve been doing with Phase II. Here’s the quote from this page that I found: “Take that charcoal first thing in the morning and don’t eat or drink anything but plain water for the next two hours. After that, eat normally for the rest of the day and take your supplements.” That’s the directions for biofilm (which I might have, since my testing still shows bright purple leukocytes after nearly 2 weeks of following the directions on this site. Plus, after taking so much OLE I haven’t had much in the way of “die-off.”)

Nothing on this page tells us whether we should then continue to alternate charcoal with the meals and supplements in those 4-hour windows (which would mean having charcoal 4 times instead of 3 each day) ~~ or if we should discontinue the other charcoal-taking during the day and only take it with lots of water in the morning.

I understand that I wouldn’t take the charcoal UNTIL I’m running loose ~~ and since that’s usually later in the morning for me, that means I wouldn’t have breakfast or supplements in the morning at all. I’d be skipping breakfast and those supplements altogether, or else following the protocol, adjusting the times, and being up all night to fit in all of those 4-hour windows! That’s my dilemma.

Perhaps you might have some alternate suggestions for me ~~ I’m still “pending” for membership on the Facebook site since the beginning of January, and I’ve sent 2 emails to Rebekah but haven’t heard from her. I hope that she’s OK.

        Thanks again, Jane!

I was so thoroughly disgusted by the time I worked through all this..I kept finding new layers of crud in my gut, and I’d been on very few antibiotics!

Activated charcoal is KEY to removing Candida effectively: it makes all the difference in the world.

I just got back from the store. I purchased magnesium citrate. I’m trying to get all this in before I leave for a 5 week trip in the Southwest. I leave next Tuesday, Sept. 13. Does this sound realistic? I was up to 3 OLE / 4x a day and still get the reaction I expected. I had a headache but I would say my bowels are not flowing freely.

    Hi Andi,
My name is Tami, and I want to tell you that I experienced the same thing! I woke up at 2:30 am with the shakes, palpitations, gas, anxiety and felt exactly the SAME THING. No worries though. I drank the citrate and flushed it out. After a period of time, when I knew I was clear (and a talk with Bekah) I took the charcoal and was good as new. When I up my OLE, I get anxiety too, big time. And, it took every ounce of me to keep my chill. I actually upped my dose today and am feeling a little anxious right now just reliving it. YOU WILL BE OKAY!!! Trust me. Rebekah is wonderful and she won’t tell you wrong. My Facebook name is Tamma Letta. You can friend me anytime and I will do my best to help you. If not Bekah WILL!!!

I’m going through this with you Andi, trust me, I am! I know how you feel. I can tell you though that this is working and I’m feeling better every day. Hang in there.

Once it’s been about 90 minutes since the charcoal, you can eat some crackers and drink a glass of milk, and that should have an effect.
Don’t worry! It’s just Candida punishing you for killing it: the stuff is pure evil and can make you feel worse than you ever felt before in your life…but it doesn’t last! And when it passes you’ll feel really good: I call it the Wonder Woman bounce.

Hi Bekah! The Andi from over on the Shock and Awe page… I can’t post there, I don’t know why.

So, I am doing another charcoal cleanse and suddenly got SO sick. Super light headed, my hands are white with the tips of the fingers blue, so dizzy and feeling like I’m gonna blow away.

Do you know what’s happening? I’m a little freaked out I overdosed on the charcoal or something.

I have don’t the 1.5 t salt with 2 c water this morning at 6am… Nothing. Then half a bottle of magnesium citrate at 8:30am. The rest at 10… Nothing. At noon I took a third dose and drank 3/4 of a bottle.

I finally got loose about 1pm but waited to take charcoal till it started clearing out a bit at 2:30p. Took another charcoal dose at 3:30pm and just after got feeling nasty, like I’m gonna pass out. Maybe because I haven’t eaten anything?

    Thank you for helping me!

Charcoal is totally inert: it has no effect on you other than sucking up whatever it comes in contact with, which is Candida, when your gut is empty…so you don’t have to worry about ODing, or anything.

It may be from a combination of low blood sugar, and…I’ve had some women report feeling die-off symptoms after charcoal (which is unusual because charcoal sucks Candida up whole, instead of ripping it open like OLE does). I think that in those cases, the charcoal is stripping off the biofilm and top layer of Candida, and the freshly exposed Candida underneath goes into shock and releases toxins.

You could be combining low blood sugar with upset Candida..how long has it been since you took the charcoal?

Did you join the FB group? You can message me instantly, there, and I could give you my phone number, too.

I did and now I can’t remember what it’s called or how to get to it. My brain is not thinking well right now.

I took the last dose at 3:30pm, and the one before at 2:30p. I feel like I’m gonna black out. I called the nurses line and they said I could be dehydrated, but I don’t think I am. Even though I’m having bowel movements like water, my pee isn’t dark. And it would be if I were, right?

I ate some bread and little pieces of steamed carrots about 30-45 min ago. I assume it would’ve helped by now. Maybe the charcoal is sucking up what it would have given to my blood stream?

You’re not dehydrated: you’re having Candida die-off and your blood sugar is low!

Don’t freak out: when Candida is dying it tries to convince you that you are, too. It can cause brain fog and anxiety attacks!
I promise you, it’s okay. What Candida does to you a little at a time every day is heightened to the nth power when it dies and dumps its mess into you all at once.

The ladies who experienced something similar all had severe Candida protected by a biofilm..but they all got through it just fine. It’s going to be okay!

I’ve been following you since end of May and we have exchanged comments via a different site
My issue/ question I have been taking OLE since June I have been through 2 300 count vitacost I have been through two bottles 100 count of charcoal I have taken garlic cloves but just couldn’t stand the smell lingering taste to the point I couldnt bring myself to even cut it up so I switched to garlic capsules. I have been taking aloe lax many nights so stool are occasionally Loose but mostly just soft
Because I generally feel tired and just not normal and bloated while taking the stuff. I have stopped here and there in June and for a week three weeks ago to go on vacation at a lake and just controlled uti symptoms with baking soda water pretty effectively
Starting two weeks ago I tried to hit it hard again I average 6 ole capsules 3 times a day with the garlic capsules 2-4 day and the charcoal 10 capsules in am with the two hour wait on each side of taking them I have trouble repeating charcoalmore than 1 time a day just because of the two hour timing I thought I was pretty consistent by writing down when I was taking what
I know for three days straight I was 100% consistent cause I was writing it down but I get frustrated by no results and then get careless and miss a dose here and there This week I have taken 10 charcoal every am on an empty stomach after 6 ole at night with garlic and at least three doses total during day I find it hard to eat and wait the two hours and then take charcoal and then wait two hours to eat and stay on any schedule is why I’m only able to get in three doses and why I increased it to 6 capsules and still the strips are positive and I have continued low back ache and very rare burning I would just throw in towel except I know the low back ache is connected because if I flush more heavily with water one day over another it is better. Part of me wants to just go get an antibiotic and call it quits but the rational part knows it will not be the solution just a delay and compound the problem

Uhgg I need to reorder everything cause I’m out I justread about mag citrate to totally flush and hadn’t tried that yet I felt emptied a couple times but I certainly don’t have diarrhea daily I’m not sure what to do
Your suggestion excouragement would be great.
FYI sounds like we just finished the same VBS last week
    Thank you

It really sounds like you’ve got Candida with a biofilm on it, getting in the way of what you’re taking.
I would do the UTI Boot Camp protocol in your case: have you seen that post?
Also, if you’re on FB, click on the link to the support group, on the main page, and join. You can message me instantly anytime on there, and there’s healed women in the group who can support you through this, too.

The only way to fully get rid of this is to get really strict about the charcoal cleanse, because it’s the only thing that will remove the Candida that’s keeping your UTI in place.
I know, because it happened to me, too.

I’m having the same issue. I’ve been taking the OLE for a couple of days now and have had no die-off effects. I would say my stool is usually on the softer side and now it’s not.

Also, my uti test has been the same for the last couple of days.

Do you recommend Magnesium citrate as a laxative? It is in pill form?

Yes, magnesium citrate is a quick, simple, natural way to clear your gut, and a 10 oz bottle of liquid is about $1 at Wal-Mart. Make sure it’s the clear kind, not the thick white stuff that’s buffered with calcium.
You just chug the whole bottle, and brace for impact. It typically kicks in quickly.

It took forever to have a bowel movement after the magnesium citrate, I think OLE really backs me up. Everything was passing easier before OLE, For some reason I have the same response to turmeric, I’ve found in the past. Ever since I developed severe liver disease, I’ve been prone to constipation:( Not sure I’ve emptied my system, so I haven’t taken charcoal yet. Should I, and how should I proceed w OLE since it’s backing me up? Thank you so much for your help, I’m still feeling better!!!

A minority of people experience constipation in response to Candida die-off rather than diarrhea. (Turmeric kills yeast, too)
This will sound strange to you after your experience, but I most often hear from people who tell me that OLE gives them uncontrollable diarrhea, and can I recommend anything else to take? ?

OLE is completely harmless and non-reactive to the human body: all symptoms following its use are caused by pathogens dying. Candida die-off causes a wide variety of symptoms: there’s a link to them in the post on Candida and UTI’s.
I promise you that you’ll have no response to OLE once you’ve killed Candida. Take more mag citrate and get your gut completely empty, *then* take the charcoal and water. It will remove Candida without die-off, stopping your constipation, and all other symptoms. You’ll be able to take all the OLE you want after that, without turning a hair.

I see above that you recommend repeating laxative if prone to constipation which I plan to do tomorrow, but is laxative then something you recommend taking daily until the uti is gone to insure bowel movements? Or how many times should I plan to take laxatives?

Well, when you’ve removed a lot of Candida, you usually stop being constipated! Since most people get the runs in response to OLE, once you’ve used charcoal to kill a lot and rip the biofilm off the rest, your system normalizes and you don’t have to worry about keeping things moving with a laxative: you’re more likely to start taking charcoal to slow things down!
Did you take a big dose of charcoal yet, since you emptied your system?
