PSA: The Rise of Group B Strep UTIs

Posted in UTI Causes

Is largely due to going down.

Group B strep is commonly found living as a relatively harmless denizen of the gut, vagina, and the mouth. It is not motile, meaning the little devil can’t move on its own, meaning it has to be placed ON the urethra to cause a UTI, if you get what I’m saying, here. *cough*
This is one point I ain’t makin’ with a GIF, so y’all will have to use your imaginations. Put 2 and 2 together and make 4, savvy?

It can also be contracted through contact with contaminated medical equipment (catheter).

If you would like to avoid this form of UTI, I highly recommend both parties brush their teeth and *ahem* tongues very thoroughly with activated charcoal.

Very. Thoroughly.

If you already have it…I’m still working on a cure for this nasty little devil. It isn’t particularly virulent in the bladder, typically, but it’s as persistent as the cute guy at your front door trying to sell you a new TV/internet bundle.

It just

Won’t

Go

Away.

By all rights, raw garlic, oregano oil, ascorbic acid, and OLE should do the job, but I’ve got 4 people right now watching everyone else with all kinds of other UTIs get cured, and their tests strips are still turning a faint but inexorable purple.

If you’ve got it, avoid sugar, alcohol, do some charcoal cleansing to boost your immune system, and stay on OLE, and raw garlic or oregano oil to keep yourself virtually asymptomatic. Also, contact me on FB to be part of a test group for curing this thing, if you want.

I just found this page and I am so thankful! Strep B positive- round microbid, did nothing. Another round of different antibiotic, still positive going on a month now. I am not on Facebook but need to start your protocol. Also Candida positive in urine. Do I tackle Candida or strep first or both at the same time? I guess I’m needing the layman’s step 1 do this, step 2 do this version. Thank you so much for getting this info out to help others. You rock!

Hi Rebekah! Thank you so much for the new posts. I’ve read them all and have now implemented hcl and lemon shots to handle my low stomach acid.

I’m currently battling a strep b uti. It has been E. coli in the past. First time ever. I’m freaking out. With the help of a lady from the group I’ve started doing high doses of allimax, taking oregano and berberis.

Also take horseradish. Have also been juicing celery and just added ginger to it. All this for about a week. Also took 5 days of keflex that was prescribed. yesterday the last day and still feeling a lot of urgency so I’m thinking this is still there.

Any other recommendations for strep b uti? Please help.

I feel it in my urethra. No burning just urgency. Will frosting on the urethra help??

High doses of ascorbic acid Vitamin C! 3 grams per dose, 3-4x per day.

You feel that way because it’s sore now and the thought of acid makes you wince?

Charcoal on the urethra is always worth a shot.

No, for strep B you *need* your urine acidified, and acerola cherry C isn’t acidifying. It’s good for gram negative pathogens, not gram positive.

Ascorbic acid C should dramatically decrease your bladder pain within an hour.

  3. My bladder issues started 2017 with recurrent UTIs. I took 4 different antibiotics but the UTI symptoms persisted. After that, Drs declined prescribing me more abxs, and I was left with debilitating UTI pain. I’ve been searching a cure ever since trying all kinds of treatments. Drs gave me a diagnosis of IC, but I’m not sure if the diagnosis is correct. I’m suspecting embedded infection in my bladder considering how my symptoms started. Also, I have IBD (colitis), and I’ve had many antibiotic courses as a kid. So, my gut microbiome must be in pretty bad shape, and hence, susceptible to opportunistic pathogens. In urinalysis culturing, I’ve had Strep B (GBS) growth several times. And I remember, that GBS was a problem in my twenties also. I know that GBS belongs to the ”normal flora”, but as I’ve understood, it can also be a potential UTI pathogen. I suspect, that it’s the root cause of my bladder issues, though lately many of my urinalysis comes out clean or with mixed growth. I suspect also candida may have a role in my symptoms. I have high blood glucose, sweet cravings and because of IBD flares, I’ve had recurrent cortisone courses. I’ve sent my request to join the FB group. Please, accept. I really need help in this battle.

Hi, I’ve been fighting off 2 strains of uti for almost 4 months. I had a tubal ligation in January and then in March I started urinating frequently, I’ve never had a uti so I didnt know what was going on and I went to the doctor and tested positive for strep b uti, gave me 7 days of augmentin, symptoms persisted went back for another urine culture, also had enterococcus in urine, was treated with 7 days of macrobid, symptoms still persisted, went back for a 3rd urine culture came back positive for strep b again and I was treated with 10 days of cefalexin, well to no surprise symptoms still persisted strep b was gone but urine came back positive for enterococcus AGAIN was treated with 5 days of cipro and now I am playing the waiting game with the doctor. Still have persistent urge to urinate, frequent urination, no burning just uncomfortable and now I have a yeast infection from all the antibiotics. Please help, I have 3 children, a set of 1 year old twins and a 5 year old, I am desperate .

I have stubborn Group strep b culturing recurrent for over 2 years now. Had a robotic total hysterectomy Jan. 2017 for a uterine ablation gone wrong. Closed my cervix and has blood backing up uterus size of 20week baby, hyperspalinx, severe endometriosis. I’ve been to GP that sent me to infectious disease dr and he won’t let urologist do cystoscope on me for air from urethra. I’m a mess. Ine taken at least 12 rounds of antibiotics and urine looks good but when they send it off, it comes back positive for it. I want someone to give me a catheter urince test and see if I really have it or if it’s coming from female anatomy. I need to test negative to get cystoscope. Frustrated beyond! Any ideas?,

Is the test group for curing this still active? I’m getting desperate. I’ve been getting UTI’s since last July, about once a month. I know my earlier cultures were positive for e.coli, but in December I got one that that didn’t seem to be going away with antibiotics (2 rounds of them). I kept symptoms minimal for a couple months by drinking plenty of water and taking d-mannose. It got bad again mid-February, I got another culture done, and it said I had Group B Strep. I was put on Cephalexin for the first time (4x a day, for 7 days). Woke up with dark cloudy pee the morning after I finished the antibiotics. Doctor said it might be something I have to learn to live with. I’m going to try everything outlined in this article for the next few weeks, but I would love to be updated on new developments.

I had a strep B test a year ago after getting UTI symptoms from my own vaginal secretions, it said below 10 which doctor said is low but being menopausal I should have zero of this bacteria. I was given Cipro, it cleared up. This year, had intercourse once with new partner have same symptoms bloating, Urine odor, pressure. Tested negative for UTI, took cipro again, odor is still there. Vaginal secretions are now having same odor! is this moving to my cervix? i thought symptoms were mild enough that i could drink cranberry juice and get rid of them but now am frightened it migrated to cervix!

So, I had a vaginal/UTI/vaginal/UTI for the last 4 weeks. I started treating with coconut oil, switched over to GFSE when it turned into a UTI, then I stopped because I thought it cleared up (oh, it so didn’t). I found this page a week or so ago, and added OLE and garlic to my GFSE and it cleared up again. Then three days ago it came back. The first go-around, baking soda completely took the symptoms away! This time, it helps a bit but not nearly as much. 🙁 My strips are completely clear for nitrites and only slightly purplish in the am for leukocites. So confused.

How do you know if you have Group B?

The doctor can order a culture done. A clue is if you use a urine test strip first thing in the morning after sleeping through the night, and the leukocytes turn purple but the nitrites stay clear. That means the bacteria is a gram positive type that doesn’t produce nitrites: the usual culprits are staph, strep, or entero. A culture is the only way to be sure, though.

Welp, I got this little booger. It’s been tormenting me the past two days, especially today. I’ve been wondering why my nitrites were clear and my leukocytes were purple. Now it makes perfect sense. I had a urinalysis recently, still waiting on the results. Looking forward to that cure, Rebekah! You know your stuff!

On another note, I think that I’ve about eradicated that pesky Candida. I haven’t had an infection or symptoms in quite a while. I just finished another two day charcoal cleanse this past week. That makes about eight separate cleanses that I’ve done since June. I have to say that it works! Thanks so much!
